I have a 10yr old!

Tue August 9, 2011

Clearly, with my youthful appearance, I’m sure you are thinking… ” how is that possible?”  Well friends, my first baby turns 10 tomorrow.  Such a milestone birthday and I can’t wait for her special day.

She is having a party on the weekend that involves lots of cute art activities.  She is a girl who loves to draw and create things, so that is what her party will be.  Will turned 8 last week and his party was just, um…  Crazy!  16 boys – I really didn’t get a chance to take many photos.  But I hope to record Jazzy’s properly as 10 is super special and I will try share some pics.

Here is Jazzy B at Red Rock Canyon earlier this year.

Birthday Dinner request: Fish Pie

Birthday Cake request: Lemon

Birthday Present request: Never does she ask – always happy for the surprise

Where have I been?

Tue July 19, 2011

I just noticed this morning that is has been nearly three weeks since my last blog post, so I thought it deserved a little attention.

Life has been pretty hectic since we moved.  My office is still strewn with packing boxes and our clothes are still in suitcases?  But we are getting there.

I have been shooting like crazy, beautiful family after beautiful family.  Love Your Camera beginner workshops are still going strong and keeping me on the move (Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne coming up).  And, my labour of love of the last few months has been the production of Love Your Camera II.  The perfect follow-on for anyone that has attended Love Your Camera (or anyone comfortable shooting in manual mode), and who wishes to learn more, practice more and be challenged.  This is an online workshop that runs for 4 weeks.  The first one is full and starts in just 6 sleeps!  Round two starts in August, so pop on over to the Love Your Camera site and see what you think.

And on the home front, the kids have had school holidays and about a million sleepovers.  Every day we either gained a child, or lost a child.  The trundle was moved from room to room, noise levels were out of control and lots of baking was done with mum.  Since Dave and I swapped roles, I haven’t cooked as much as I used too.  And I used to cook a lot — nothing too fancy, just healthy and yummy vegetarian fare.  Over the holidays I noticed just how much processed food we were eating inadvertently, so made the conscious decision to make most things from scratch as I used to — well, I’ll try anyway.

My sister-in-law put me on to a fantastic website that I have been devouring – 101 Cookbooks.  Written by Heidi Swanson, it shares all her natural vegetarian food ideas.  Last night I made the Roast Sweet Potato Falafels.  So good, and the kids took them to school in their lunchboxes today.  Tonight is quinoa with grilled zucchini, eggs and goats cheese.

Well, that’s about me in a nutshell this morning.  I will leave you with these divine sisters. x

Squidgy, squishy, scrumpy bubs.  Just before they crawl, round and muffiny.  So heavenly to photograph this little petal and her gorgeous parents. xx

Family Photography Melbourne

This beautiful family have work/life balance sussed.  Working from home and raising their little fella together.  A trip to the local cafe followed by the park is their favourite family activity — so that’s what we did.  x

Window Light

Sun June 19, 2011

I love taking a few photos whenever we eat out.  It’s always such a relaxing time for us.  And it probably borders on obsessive that I choose the table with the best light when we sit down.  Here are a couple of Jazzy from a diner in New York.  Yes indeed… a good old fashioned, Americano, waitress wearing frilly apron and carrying around a percolated coffee jug for refills, kind of diner.  Pity I didn’t take any photos of that, although I think I was too busy marvelling at the extraordinary size of the vegie burger and fries that did not even fit on the platter-size plate. :)

Time with mum.  Winter, morning sessions… I love.

After looking through all the photos, this little sweetheart decided she loved this one of herself.  So cute x
