Hello Possums!

Tue September 27, 2011

Jazzy’s class has been studying Australia, and to finish the term they needed to research a famous Australian and then one evening last week — dress up as the famous Australian and present their information.

Here is our little love, Dame Edna Everage — too cute :)

The next Love Your Camera II – Online Photography Retreat starts this Monday!

Photos of Friends

Wed September 21, 2011

A few weeks back I had an absolutely fab session with friends.  They are so completely gorgeous – here are some of my faves! x

If you have a DSLR camera and you want to know how to use it to it’s full potential, I would love you to join in the Love Your Camera one-day workshop.  You will learn to shoot confidently in manual mode and take amazing photos of your family and friends.  For upcoming workshop dates for Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, click here.

Review Post

Tue September 20, 2011

Rachel and I met recently, literally on the street outside my house :)  Will and Gemma quickly became friends, bonding over magic tricks and home-made perfume concoctions.  And Rachel and I have talked photography, motherhood and life.  I know she has put a lot of passion and energy into her new eBook Click, and I was excited when she asked me to review it.

Click is an eBook about photographing children.  It is not a technical manual nor a step-by-step portrait basics.  This easy-to-read guide is about creating more than smiley-faced portraits.  It is a book on recording children as they really are and visually telling genuine stories.  Rachel writes in an honest biographical style and shares lots of fantastic photos on every page.  I highly recommend Click for any Love Your Camera attendees — professional and enthusiast photographers alike.

Will leave you with a shot of my Jazzy at a piano recital a few weeks ago.  She played with four other children in front of a small group.  Confident but shy, this shot was taken just before she played. x

Family Session

Tue September 20, 2011

I first met Melita at a Love Your Camera workshop on one of her recent trips to Australia, and we planned to have a family photo session when they next visited from Malaysia.  The kids were a dream and the light heavenly – here are just some of my favourites x

The Boy

Thu September 15, 2011

These were taken a little while back now, when his hair was super boofy.  This kid just has the biggest hair ever – 5 minutes after the hair cut it needs cutting again.  I think he secretly fell in love with the last hairdresser, so he’s very happy to be returning :)

New Addition

Tue September 13, 2011

There is really nothing quite like the joy of adding another member to your family.  I love photo sessions that capture the new dynamics and the extra sprinkling of love the new addition brings.

A beautiful session of mooching about at home x

Family Session

Thu September 8, 2011

So, what’s been new for you this week?  Have you taken many photos?  I feel ashamed at times over how infrequently I photograph my life.  I am using my iPhone more for those times when I have no other camera with me.  And am making a conscious effort to photograph the kids, no matter what state their hair is in — case in point, yesterday’s Instagram.  And now that daylight saving is on the way (did I feel a collective Mexican Wave?), I will be able to take more photos when the babes get home from school before the sun goes down.

On a recent trip to Adelaide I caught up with fellow photographer and all-round gorgeous girl Bridgette of Fresh Imagery to capture her with her special men.  Here are just a few favourites. x

Father’s Day

Mon September 5, 2011

I failed my wifely photographer duties and did not get a photo of the kids with Dave yesterday – crazy!  Instead, just a few shots of them clowning around outside.  x
