Moving

Thu May 26, 2011

Out of the blue, we are moving – just like that.  Only a few streets away, but still so very exciting.  The house has a much better layout and loads more room (not to mention a separate shooting studio for me – perfect for Model for a Day!)  So, as we move in 10 days we are madly packing.  With madness being our default modus operandi :)

Moving makes me feel so nostalgic.  I was pregnant with Imogen when we moved here so my little Miss Muffet has only known this house.  Jaz and Will left for their first day of school, from this house.  First teeth were lost, first steps taken, birthday parties had…

While packing our bedroom today, I got to thinking about a whole series of photos, of which the following is one, taken in early Feb, 2007 – Imogen was just 10 days old.  It was hot, about 5pm, on our bed… with the new white quilt cover that I had bought with this very photo in mind.  This photo (with the others) hangs above our bed now — I must admit to a quick reprocess to remove the dodgy 2007 vignette ;)  So many beautiful memories from this house, hopefully many of them captured for posterity.

With all of that said, I LOVE moving.  Love decluttering.  Love throwing things out (almost as much as I loved hoarding them in the first place).  I will keep my blog up to date with anything that may be of interest, such as the photo walls I have planned, the shooting studio to fit-out and my glorious office to organise.  I want to make the kid’s bedrooms super fabulous as well, so if you have any links that can help, send them through!!  I am a Pinterest addict, so if you are too, send me your LOVES over there!

And my little boo boo, so sweet and scrumpy, watching Mickey Mouse this morning.

Wow, what a weekend.  I have not been that sick in such a long time, and with two workshops to talk through, I had completely lost my voice by Sunday night.  As I mentioned to my Sunday attendees with my very scratchy voice, I was hoping for Demi Moore, but think it sounded a little more Marge Simpson.  Regardless of my voice and lack of optimum health, the workshops and models were fantastic.  Such a great group of women — thank you for coming!

And this little bebe?  Just a scrumpy little scrumper.

Their enlargement. Smiley :)

Cute!

Angie is the blogging whiz behind The Little Mumma and here is her little family.  We met late on a Friday for a session that was all about taking-5 for just a moment with her boys.

And the lovely Angie.

Read Along

Wed May 11, 2011

I am so excited about my dinner tonight.  While in New York, we became obsessed with Chipotle.  Such gooooood Mexican food.  There was one just up the street from our hotel, and we had the burrito bowl most nights :)  Dave has managed to trackdown the blackbean recipe.  The real one.  OMG – it smells divine.  Scrumminess!!

Last night I set up a little blanket for Imogen and Will to listen to a read-along-with-me book and CD combo.  It felt so good watching them engrossed in the character’s voices and the story.  It felt old-fashioned, in a way.  Here they are with their little CD player.

Mother’s Day

Mon May 9, 2011

Being a mum is simply the best fun, especially on mother’s day. My favourite part is the breakfast. The loud whispering about what to make, the excited clanging from the kitchen, the calling out “mum, don’t come downstairs yet”, and then… the grand presentation as they enter the bedroom beaming. This year it was scones with jam and cream (leftovers from the workshop the day before) and crumpets with peanut butter and a knife and fork wrapped in a serviette cafe-style.  Then they sit on the end of the bed and watch you eat every single mouthful.  Proud exclamations of, “that part was my idea” and “I buttered that all by myself” are made.  I absolutely 100% love and adore that breakfast more than any other breakfast I have ever eaten.

The rest of our day was fab as well.  My brothers and sis-in-law came to Will’s footy game to cheer Will and the Zebbies on.  Then they joined us for a carb-infested lunch that lasted until dinner time.  All high-protein diets were put on hold and we had spinach and ricotta cannelloni, potato bake, fennel salad and crusty bread.

Here is Dave with my brothers, Matt in the middle and Mike on the right, taken at my aunt’s recent wedding.  They are such great uncles and helped make yesterday so fun, keeping the red wine and laughs flowing.

And from the same wedding, here is Aunty Lou (Matt’s wife), who also made yesterday so great by dressing up in Zeb colours, baking with the girls and reading stories to all.

And here is a little muffin from a session a few weeks ago, who yesterday gave his mummy her first mother’s day.

More New York… really?

Tue May 3, 2011

Yes, those New York posts haven’t ended yet.

My little blog that I love so much has been a bit neglected the last few weeks.  Sometimes life just gets in the way.  We had some dear friends visit from the UK who we hadn’t seen for two years, the kids had school holidays, Will played with his Auskick mates at the MCG – halftime during the Anzac Day game, we got to hang out with our gorgeous family while I photographed my aunt’s wedding in Canberra, Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy have both stopped by, the kids had sleepovers, Imogen has attacked “dress-up phase” with a passion, Model for a Day photo sessions were launched, Royal Wedding and 40th Birthday dinners have been attended…  I am so grateful to be this busy.  Where would we be without family and friends to enjoy, and a beautiful blog to journal it on?

These photos are from my outing with Imi in Central Park.  We went to lunch, bought a book, listened to the opera singing busker in the tunnel, searched for squirrels and wandered through the Park until the lamplights came on and it was so dark we lost our bearings and ended up on the wrong side of the park and were late for meeting up with Dave and couldn’t find the subway so had to catch a cab which we really loved because it had a TV screen in the back of the seat showing the news and a map.  Imi kept pressing the buttons and I kept saying, stop pressing the buttons. x

I love how she reads her book “teacher style”, holding it so I can see the pictures.
