A Better Me

Tue November 23, 2010

I am extremely interested in personal growth. I enjoy studying greatness. Anyone who knows me well often jokes about the many professions I have tried, the many businesses i have started and the numerous hobbies I have moved through searching for my passion.

I knew from a young age that I wanted a lot from myself. I wanted a lot from life. My greatest fear was reaching the end of this beautiful time on earth and saying the words… “I wish I had…”

I strive to make sure that never happens. So with that, I am always seeking my best self. I value my relationships – new and old, and do my best to treat them tenderly. I place incredible importance on passions, dreams, goals, fulfillment.

My bedside is littered with stories of how others have reached personal greatness. I am moved by photography and moved by business, so there are also many great reads on those subjects. And then personal growth. That is organic, ongoing and I love that too.

This week I am indulging all of the above and taking some time out for me. My third experience with Jesh de Rox. It always puts me one step closer to being a better mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend… A better me.

Back soon xox

New Bubby

Thu November 18, 2010

I love dahl. It’s one thing I cook especially well. So tonight… dahl and chapati and wine and helping Jaz with her homework and listening to Will’s reader and washing Imi’s hair and then I might make a start on some Christmas shopping. I would love to be an organised Christmas mummy this year.

I photographed this heavenly family last year and was thrilled to see them again recently with their new little girl.  They have such a knack for interior design — I love the bedroom!

A bumpy

Tue November 16, 2010

I fell in love with Mark and Wendy… oh… about 30 seconds after I met them.  The sweetest couple – and now the lucky parents of a beautiful little girl born just a few weeks ago.  Here are some highlights from their session just a week before she arrived. x

Lunch

Mon November 15, 2010

A perfect start to the week.  An early morning business meeting and then a relaxing lunch overlooking the bay.

Dave: Ploughmans Lunch

Me: Eggplant and Feta Tart

Shared: Side of Fries (and if I don’t mention the raspberry cheesecake – that sort of means we didn’t have it…)

It has been too long since we have had a child-free day together where we are not bound to the computer.  A walk along the beach, fresh air, sun, wind — freedom. x

Erin’s Family

Sat November 13, 2010

These photos are some favourites of mine from the recent Scoop workshop in Brisbane.  We always have a family session in the afternoon, and Erin and her beautiful gang came up from the Gold Coast to model for us. x

I will be needing models again for Melbourne on December 3rd: a baby around 6-8mths for the morning and a family of 4 or more for the afternoon.  Please email me if interested!

First up, some good old strangulating, eye-poking love from the sister :)  I simply LOVE the 2nd image in the top row!!

Wedding Photography

Mon November 8, 2010

Occasionally, this little old family photographer shoots weddings.  A few weeks ago Terri and Jason got dolled up and hitched in Canberra, surrounded by their nearest and dearest.  Unfortunately the rain started to fall just moments before the beautiful bride was due to arrive.  So all the chairs set up by the lake were carried to a shielded area at the National Gallery.  This did nothing to dampen their spirits or spoil the day.  They were two of the happiest people I have seen.

After the ceremony, we spent an hour dodging rain and running from dry spot to dry spot, with lots of yummy fun shooting in between. Dani Mezza was a fabulously helpful assistant and lots of fun too.  Not only did she hold an umbrella over my head, shoot and keep her eye on all the little details, but she took care of all the family shots as well.  A super star!

There is something I realise about wedding photographers — they really do get the best of the bride and groom on that day.  To share all those intimate moments of excitement, love, the quiet and calm away from their adoring family and friends — what a true gift for the photographer.

Terri and Jason, it was such a pleasure to photograph your beautiful smiley faces.  Much love friends xo
