This sublime session is from a recent trip to Sydney. Joanne had been to one of the Sydney workshops, had a ball – as everyone does , and made plans for family photos when her bump became a little bigger. Joanne is the sweetest little soul and they are such a wonderful couple – so in love with each other, with their little fella and excited about the arrival of their second bub in January. These photos were all about capturing their family unit now, before they grow to four. x

And the bump

It has been such a busy week in Baxter-land. A whirlwind trip to Canberra which included a family session, a Love Your Camera workshop and photographing the marriage of Jason and Terri. I cannot wait to share those images, even though it rained we still got some stunning shots.
Dave has started the Lemon Detox diet today. Yikes! I would love to give it a go but am mentally not up to that sort of fasting just now. So while he sipped on his lemony concoction this morning, I guiltily devoured poached eggs on toast. However, should he emerge at the end of the week having lost vast kilos and feeling refreshed I may have to reconsider.
This family were simply delightful. Considering they were only in this house for a few more days, leaving it to move to New Zealand, they were so calm and chilled out for their session. This photograph is such a favourite of mine, and I love that they included it in their order.

Mum has a green thumb, and wanted a record of her cleverly-grown broccoli

These darling parents were in Melbourne from Singapore, visiting their three grown children (who organised the photo session). I always like to take time out from our family shots to capture some goodness with mum and dad. I love this series. x

Our friends made a beautiful little girl…
Adam and I worked together at a magazine when I was 19 and became good friends. Adam lived with Dave and we hung out a lot. Then the three of us lived together in London. Then Dave and I moved back to Sydney and got married ♥. And Adam stayed in London and married Amanda. Then many moons later they moved to Melbourne and we got to hang out again. Last weekend we had a glorious lunch with our dear friends and their new little bub.
Funnily enough, Alex was born on the same day as our firstborn. Here are a few pics from change time. x

The kids have just left for school and I am sitting in my office writing this post eating one of my favourite breakfasts — a poached egg on grainy toast with lots of pepper. There is also a piping hot coffee in my favourite mug (that was purchased at a market stall in Prague in 2000). I need my coffee extra, extra hot — so I drink it really quickly before it cools. Other favourite breakfasts include fresh ricotta, tomato and rocket on the same grainy toast; chilli mexican beans with a poached egg; baked beans on that grainy toast; and most cereals.
Anyhoo, being a photo blog and not a foodie blog, here are some pics of a wee scrumper and her folks. x

Delicious moments pieced together to create a beautiful weekend. Photographed a family and a wedding; Will had a dance concert and received an award (complete with medal on a ribbon); we shared Sunday morning coffees and hot chocolates for one lovely birthday mummy; and then joined other friends for more birthday fun of lunch and wine and cake and late afternoon walks… all enjoyed under heavenly weather. And then Imi went to the bathroom and couldn’t reach the soap. x

I first met Mel a few months ago when she attended a Love Your Camera workshop in Adelaide. Afterwards she mentioned she would love to have family photos done with me next time I was in town. In all the goodbyes, I remembered our tight hug. When the opportunity arose for models in Adelaide, Mel contacted me, and I’m so glad she did. In the short time we had together, these special parents demonstrated so many elements that contribute to a loving family – kindness, patience and gratitude. xo

A few weeks back I posted about our nephew who had made his early entrance at 29 weeks. Seven weeks later, at what would be 36 weeks gestation, he has grown to 3kgs! When he was born at just 1.2kgs! What a chubby little champion he is. My sister-in-law was so happy to show off his chubby thighs today Man, he is such a gorgeous dream. I love his cheeks and his top lip. Won’t be long now and he will be able to join his brother and sister, and most positive and patient parents, at home. xo

Back to school for the kids this week — so I am in catch up mode. And finally Melbourne, you have given us some Spring weather. Even I, the sun-phobe, am relishing the rays.
And, our exciting news for the year is we have booked a family holiday to the States next year — yee haa! Vegas for WPPI, then a huge Baxter road trip through California with side trips to Grand Canyon and Portland. So excited. If anyone happens to be from or have visited LA, San Fran, Portland, and anywhere in between, please send me through any recommendations for areas to stay, places to eat, fab markets — any info would be gorgeous!!
Look at this little face. I was stuck on this image while proofing — her eyes and darling lips. This sweetie was a model from the Adelaide workshop. She didn’t know quite what to make of all the new faces oohing and aahing over her.

Frowny is still cute.
