Bayside Family Photography

How about a burst of colour on a Thursday morning?   Most of my sessions are about the whole family.  I love mushiness, I love family love, I love mums and dads and kids in love, I love family photographs that are fun.

I think this session is also a perfect example of ‘what to wear’.  It is not ‘matchy matchy’, but the colours are blending.  Love it!  Perfect for our Brighton location.

This would have to be my favourite family portrait EVER!

And this here is what they have chosen as a 20×30″ canvas.  So excited to see this.

Portrait of a Baby

The mummy of this little cherub wanted to capture some classic portraits of her bubby at this gorgeous age.  It really is the most wonderful age for everything, including photographs.  The period just before they start to crawl and they’re round and happy and cuddly.  Yum.

Melbourne Baby Photography

There is nothing better than peachy baby skin… mmm, this must be why mother’s the world over are always declaring they will ‘eat’ their off-spring.  So edible.  This little girl was a total dream to photograph.

And the collection of collages and prints from her session are sitting right beside me ready to be delivered — they have printed up beautifully.

Mathilda’s Market

A few weeks ago I had a stall at the beautiful Mathilda’s Market - there are so many very creative people making glorious items for our children.  Here is a sample of what was on offer.

Family Photography East Melbourne

The last time this family had their portraits taken was back in the ’70s!  Made me think of my family portrait from the ’80s when I was a teen.  There was far too much hair on everyone – especially me.  Mottled back drop.  Stiff smiles.  Some of us standing on boxes and ladders?  My mum still has this picture up – might be time for a redo.  How far the family portrait has come — most of us these days are seeking something more natural and real.  Three cheers for that!

Children’s Photographer Melbourne

You know they say, “it’s not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN”.  One day, your computer will die.  One day, the disk will fail.  I have heard that soooo many times over the last few years.   So, I backed up pretty often.  And then… my computer died.  Nooooooooo!

I now know, I don’t back-up often enough – particularly the photos of my own children.  The day my computer died, all my client jobs were somewhere safe, my most recent session was still on a card in my camera, but all of my personal photos from this year…  Gone.  Noooooooo!

After days of trying to work here and there with no computer, waiting for Mr Fixit to arrive, we kept trying to get it going.  Nothing.  It was maybe the 87th time that I tried starting it up again (desperately hopeful) that it miraculously read the disk.  I frantically copied all my treasured photos of my beautiful babelets.  And then, as Dave was calling out for me to copy my emails, address book, favourites, downloads, etc… it died.  And I never saw that disk again…  So, HOW LUCKY AM I!!!  Hooray for small miracles.  I do believe my Dad is watching over me, keeping my family safe, finding me awesome parking spots in crowded shopping centres, and now, giving my computer a final hour to get my photos.  Thanks a million.

Now, enough rambling, I have so much work to catch up on and more backing up to do!

Imogen watching the rain.
